10. Rick Dempsey, Catcher, Baltimore Orioles
The star studded 1983 World Series between the Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies featured future Hall of Famers Eddie Murray, Jim Palmer, Cal Ripken, Jr., Steve Carlton, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and Mike Schmidt. If that wasn’t enough star power for you, the tilt also featured former Cy Young winner Mike Flanagan and future Cy Young Award winner Willie Hernandez.
However, it was Baltimore backstop Rick Dempsey that took home MVP honors by batting .385 with a homer in the Orioles Game 5 Series-clinching victory. Dempsey also played an integral role in Baltimore’s come-from-behind Game 2 victory by scoring the tying run in the seventh inning.
