Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry scored the milestone 2000th goal for the English national soccer team today against Sweden. Barry scored the goal in the 22nd minute of the match at Wembley Stadium.
It is only Barry’s 3rd goal in international competition but given the experimental roster fielded by Fabio Capello the stage was set for a lesser known player to get the goal as more established national team players like Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard waited on the bench.
Now to just shake that world cup hex…
