Ravens 14- Browns 6
The Cleveland Browns were just what the doctor ordered for the Ravens after getting shelled in their opener against the Broncos. This was the Ravens’ 11th straight win over the Browns. Joe Flacco kept the game close so his wife would believe the team really needed him to beat the Browns, even though they probably would have been fine had Flacco opted to witness the birth of his second child.
Texans 30- Titans 24
Even without a possibly concussed Andre Johnson, the Texans erased an eight point fourth quarter deficit to eventually win in overtime on a DeAndre Hopkins touchdown catch. The overtime touchdown pass from Matt Schaub made up for a pick-sx he threw in the fourth quarter, which could have cost the Texans the game. The Texans showed twice this season that they can win from behind, which is terrible news for Arian Foster owners but great news for Houston Texan owners.
Cardinals 25- Lions 21
The Cardinals took advantage of the Lions eight penalties, one of which set up the game winning score for Bruce Arians’ first win in Arizona. The Lions cannot seem to stop shooting themselves in the foot with discipline issues. To that end, they plan to bring in Plaxico Burress to play opposite Calvin Johnson.
Saints 16- Buccaneers 14
The Saints needed every last second to pull out a win over the Buccaneers, including over and hour of weather delays. Tampa Bay is not usually known for inclement weather, but for that matter, Tampa Bay is is not usually known for keeping a game close with the Saints.
Raiders 19- Jaguars 9
In the Battle of Inept Franchises, Jacksonville Jaguars out-terrible’d the Oakland Raiders to take home the loss. Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for an impressive 27 yards, while Chad Henne managed to get sacked five times. Terrelle Pryor made an effort to out-terrible the Jaguars passing for only 126 yards, but in the end the Raiders could not pull out the loss and are forced to concede being the worst team in the NFL to the Jaguars. Do the Jaguars have what it takes to challenge the 2008 Lions? For the fans in Jacksonville, only deathly slow-moving time will tell.
Broncos 41- Giants 23
The Broncos look scary good winning their second game by scoring in the 40’s. This win moves Peyton Manning to 3-0 against his brother Eli, who threw four interceptions in the game. Peyton’s team looks unstoppable while Eli’s looks like a good matchup for the Jaguars. I just wish someone would remind me which brother has won more Super Bowls, I always forget. It is like the media does not remember these guys are brothers.
Seahawks 29- 49ers 3
The final game on Sunday got delayed by lightning but was no where near a close finish. The Seahawks dominated the 49ers at home, winning on Pete Carroll’s birthday and beating Richard Sherman’s college coach. There seemed to be some bad blood between both Carroll and Sherman with Jim Harbaugh. Unfortunately for the Sunday Night Football viewers there was not much of a battle on the field, and Harbaugh only gets in fist fights with people his own size like Jim Schwartz.
