Amazon has decided to pull erotic novella “A Gronking to Remember” from its site, even as the book has been receiving a good amount of publicity for, well, being an erotic novel about a woman’s insatiable desire for Rob Gronkowski.
As for the reason for the novella’s removal, Amazon has not released any official statement on the decision to remove “A Gronking to Remember” from its e-book library. However, a source told the Boston Globe that objections were raised due to the novella’s cover, which features Gronk wearing a Patriots jersey with a “MHK” patch. The Pats wore the patch during the 2011 season as a tribute to Myra Kraft, wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who passed away that year.
The book’s author, Lacey Noonan, hadn’t thought that anyone would have an issue with the memory of Myra Kraft being associated with parody erotica. She wrote the following in an email to the Boston Globe:
“I didn’t understand at the outset that Robert Kraft wouldn’t want Myra Kraft and her philanthropical works associated with this. Total newbie ignorance on my part. I believe — and hope — that’s the only problem anyone has with the book since it is such obvious satire and parody.”
Although it’s not clear exactly who objected to the cover, the Globe says that it could be someone affiliated with the NFL or the Patriots:
An NFL source said Thursday that the league keeps tight control over the use of uniforms and logos, and no doubt would object to the use of the Patriots uniform (and “MHK” patch) without permission.
The Globe also states that Gronk is aware of the work but hasn’t had the chance to read Noonan’s piece yet. Hopefully, Amazon will allow people to start purchasing “A Gronking to Remember” again so that Rob Gronkowski can get a chance to read it.
