Tennessee’s search for a new head football coach has been an unmitigated disaster, as the world has documented extensively since Sunday. There is still an open search going on for a new head coach after such luminaries as Mike Gundy and David Cutcliffe have turned the job down. But salvation may be coming from an unlikely source… WWE (of course).
Kane, yes Kane, who is running for the mayor of Knox County, home of Knoxville, has a scoop:
Good friend who works with @CoachLesMiles just told me that Les is extremely interested in UT position. He'd look great in Orange. #CallLes

He also spoke out against Greg Schiano, for what it’s worth, and we know politicians in that part of the world are heavily invested in Vols football, so why not a former wrestler turned politician coming out with inside information on the Vols coaching search? Especially with the Mad Hatter himself?
All joking aside, how amazing would it be if after this total disaster of a coaching search, the Vols end up with Les Miles? Everyone would probably end up really happy after the lowest of low points, Les would be back on the sidelines and out of the broadcast booth, and Kane would have been the man who broke the story instead of the bevy of college football insiders and reporters.
Naturally, Tennessee’s bizarre coaching search needed something like Kane breaking the news that Les Miles wants the job, and now the world has it.
For the Vols, let’s hope it’s true.
