24. Danny Brown, Old
From the very start of the project, when he claims “They want that old Danny Brown” on the hook of album opener “Side A [Old],” Danny Brown makes it clear that this is not XXX, the album which launched the eccentric Detroit rapper’s meteoric rise to fame. On Old, Brown tones down the scatological humor (though there is still planty of it) and trades in the raw lo-fi beats from XXX in favor of menacing trap beats. The result is a more polished finished product with less shock value than its predecessor.
