Writer: Pete Blackburn
Album: The Avett Brothers- Magpie and the Dandelion (2013)
The folk rock genre has been dominated by the rise of Mumford & Sons over the past couple of years, but the Avett Brothers are probably my favorite band in the folk category at the moment. The band had the very tough task of topping 2012’s The Carpenter with their latest album, Magpie and the Dandelion, but they managed to pull it off…at least in my opinion. The record is filled with flawless ballads, making it a perfect soundtrack for the shrinking days of fall.
