Best Rock Album:
13 – Black Sabbath
The Next Day – David Bowie
Mechanical Bull – Kings of Leon
Celebration Day – Led Zeppelin
…Like Clockwork – Queens of the Stone Age
Psychedelic Pill – Neil young With Crazy Horse
Who Should Win:
Sully – There’s no question this award should go to one of the old timers, they put out some kick ass records this year. I enjoyed the Queens album a lot, but not nearly as much as the Bowie album. When you listen to the Zeppelin album you think “wow this is a great Zeppelin album” but then you realize these guys haven’t played together in YEARS and it still sounds perfect. This award should go to the legends, Led Zeppelin, for an amazing recording of their last ever performance together.
Michael – As mentioned above, Led Zeppelin, a top-tier legend in the Rock and Roll game, actually did the unthinkable and withstood years of inactivity as a group and still managed to successfully marry the core essentials of what made them such a successful band in the 70’s into a form of that same success almost 40 years later.
Who Should Be Nominated:
Sully – AM – Arctic Monkeys, this record was one of the group’s best and received praise from multiple critics. The fact that Arctic Monkeys aren’t nominated for any Grammys kind of makes me hate the music industry. How can they ignore an incredible album like AM?
Michael – Have to agree with Sully on this, the Artic Monkeys album, AM, was a highly addictive stroll down everything that is right about modern rock. Them not being at least nominated, is a firm punch to the stomach.
Who Will Win:
Sully – The Next Day – David Bowie
Michael – Celebration Day – Led Zeppelin
