Song of the Year:
“Just Give Me A Reason” – Pink feat. Nate Ruess
“Locked Out of Heaven” – Bruno Mars
“Roar” – Katy Perry
“Royals” – Lorde
“Same Love” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert
Who Should Win:
Sully – I’ve never heard the Pink song so I’m gonna rule that one out. How can you rule out “Royals” as the song of the year? It’s a great song that launched the career of a young singer, (granted I am very sick of the song at this point) I still think the amount of success it brought Lorde will give her this award.
Michael – I honestly can’t give a legit prediction on this category. I’d be lying If I sat here and typed out my reasoning for one of these tracks to stand out among the others, because I genuinely didn’t listen to any of these songs in 2013. Katy Perry is an absolute dime piece though, so I’ll roll with that. Roar, it is.
Who Should Be Nominated:
Sully – Justin Timberlake – “Mirrors” I mean had it not been for JT’s terrible second part of The 20/20 Experience he’d be cleaning up this year’s award. It’s actually shocking this wasn’t nominated for Song of the Year.
Michael – Disclosure (ft. Sam Smith)- “Latch”- This track is everything I want in a “Song Of the Year” candidate. A four-minute audible orgasm, that entices you to lose yourself within the progression of the music. If you’re not moved in some fashion while listening to Latch at max volume, you need your pulse checked
Who will win:
Sully – “Same Love” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert
Michael – “Same Love” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (ft. Mary Lambert)
