After failing to lay down a bunt in two consecutive attempts, Los Angeles’ Juan Uribe joined a long list of unlikely postseason heroes Monday night by catapulting the Dodgers into the National League Championship Series with an eighth-inning go-ahead two-run home run, which scored the Division Series-clinching run for L.A.
Some of the game’s biggest stars have cemented their all-star and hall of fame legacies by shining on the October stage, but a whole other group of players have risen from obscurity to household names (at least for a few weeks) by the flipping the postseason script.
With his titanic two-run blast, Uribe has put himself in the running for most random postseason contributor of 2013, with many other unheralded players gunning to take the crown.
