6. Jeff Suppan, Starting Pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals
Jeff Suppan got it done on the mound and at the plate for the Cardinals in the 2006 NLCS. In addition to hurling eight scoreless innings against the New York Mets in Game 3, Suppan launched a home run to lead off the second inning for the Red Birds off of the Amazin’s starter Steve Trachsel. As an encore to his flawless Game 3 performance, Suppan took the hill in Game 7 and fired seven strong innings, allowing only one run on two hits, setting up Yadier Molina for his dramatic ninth inning go-ahead home run.
Suppan would cash in on his postseason success by signing a four-year, $42 million deal with the Milwaukee Brewers the following offseason. Soup would fail to live up to his contract, as the veteran righty finished 12-12 and 10-10 in the first two seasons of his deal before never finishing over .500 for the remainder of his career.
