Lemieux was on fire, scoring one goal in 46 consecutive games before his back injury. In 1990, he had back surgery to fix a herniated disc that lead to an infection, He came to help his team in playoffs and win the Stanley Cup in 91 & 92. The following season, he announced he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and immediately starting radiation. He finished his last day of radiation, flew back and played in a game that night, scoring a goal. He picked up where he left off and helped the Penguins win a 17-game winning streak and best regular season record. He had another back surgery in 94-95 season, and again came back to win his fifth NHL scoring title.
