Mitt Romney will go up against his latest opponent not in the polls, but in the boxing ring.
The former Massachusetts governor and Presidential candidate will square up against Evander Holyfield for a charity boxing match in Utah this May. That should end well for him.
“It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious. It won’t be much of a fight. We’ll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit.” (via)
Considering the event is for charity – money raised will go to CharityVision, which helps those with eyesight issues – I doubt Romney will get knocked around too violently, but it’d be pretty hilarious to see Holyfield go out there, pull no punches and give Mitt the business.
As an aside, I think we should start adding boxing matches to campaign races in politics. How great would it be to follow up an intellectual debate on social issues with a boxing match in which two candidates beat the piss out of each other? That’s the America I want to live in.
