International aid agency Oxfam had quite the pay day on Sunday following Roger Federer’s win at Wimbledon. For those of you, like myself who may not have known, Oxfam International is a confederation of 17 organizations working together to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.’ Because of a bet made in 2003 by the late Nicholas Newlife, which stated that Federer would wn seven Wimbledon titles before 2020, the charity won $157,750. Newlife passed away three years ago and he left his estate (which included outstanding bets) to Oxfam. Apparently Oxfam had already cashed in $25,920 in 2009 when Federer won his 14th Grand Slam title at the French Open (we still aren’t sure what bet that was based on).
