Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts founded Augusta National Golf Club in the early 1930s. The pair enlisted the help of British course architect Alister MacKenzie to design the course on the site of the Fruitland Nursery.
It opened in January 1933 and one year later hosted The Masters for the first time. It has hosted the tournament every year since.
