Back in June, 19-year-old Robert Burt was arrested for DUI and driving without license in Pittsfield (Maine). The Maine resident was booked at Somerset County Jail, where he posed for his mug shot in a plain white t-shirt. Of course, what he wore for his initial mug shot is a very minor detail usually not worth reporting. However, it’s what he wore to his two-day jail stint that is worth mentioning. Burt arrived at the Somerset County Jail again on August 6th to pay his debt to society, and when it came time for his booking photo — his second in the span of two months — he was more prepared. Burt works at a local restaurant, and one of his co-workers reproduced Burt’s original mugshot and put it on a t-shirt with the caption: “Burt Family Reunion 8/8-8/10/2014” and “sponsored by Bud Light and Somerset County Sheriff,” which he then wore to jail.
Turns out the folks at Somerset County Jail have a sense of humor and instructed Burt to hold the sign off to the side so the t-shirt could be captured for posterity:
Burt, who happily wore the orange shirt for his jail photo, subsequently wrote on Facebook that corrections officers made him hold the slate in a way “so you could see the shirt.” He added, “They laughed there asses off haha.” The shirt’s mention of a family reunion is an apparent reference to an incarcerated Burt relative.
Upon his release, Burt took to Facebook to inform everyone he was back out on the streets, with the simple phrase “I’m out bitchs.”
