The US Women’s National Team was looking to get off to a fast start, and they found it in almost record time. Carli Lloyd put the USA in front if Japan 1-0 in just the 3rd minute off of a beautiful corner kick which somehow made its way across the box. Not two minutes later, Carli struck again with another goal which put the US up by a score of 2-0.

The goals signified the first time that Japan had trailed during the entire World Cup.
