Well, at least they can say that the proposal was memorable.
This guy must have had this moment planned for awhile. Take his girlfriend to the World Cup, root for Mexico and propose at the right moment during the game. And with Mexico up 1-0 with mere minutes remaining, the timing must have seemed as good as any.
However, the Netherlands refused to cooperate with the couple’s wishes.
This moment, captured above, shows the exact moment that this man proposed. According to Simon Bristow, it is also the exact moment that the Netherlands dramatically tied the game up before scoring the deciding goal a couple of minutes later and knocking Mexico out of the World Cup.
Hopefully, this is the sort of thing that the two will be able to look back on and laugh about later in life.
