The Chicago Blackhawks are NOT to be messed with.
With their shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night, the Hawks have tied the record for the most successful start in NHL history, earning at least a point in all of the 16 games they’ve played this season. They have surpassed the 1943-44 Montreal Canadiens, who started the season 11-0-3, the 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers, who started 12-0-3, and have tied the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks who started 12-0-4. What do all of these teams have in common? Well—they all won the Stanley Cup the year they posted that record.
Although the Hawks’ 13-0-3 record is better than all of these teams, this particular statistic pertains to the number of consecutive games with a big fat ZERO in that regulation loss column. With a victory on Friday over the rapidly deteriorating San Jose Sharks, the Hawks could make NHL history with the most dominant start to a season.
Conclusion? Let’s all just give up now because the Hawks are unstoppable.
