The Boston Bruins organization and its fans were sorely disappointed last week when Jarome Iginla decided to sign with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli hasn’t given up on his quest for the perfect winger. The Bruins have reportedly acquired future Hall of Famer, Jaromir Jagr, from the Dallas Stars in exchange for prospects Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne. The transaction is pending a trade call with the league.
Sure, Jagr may be 41 years old, but he still leads the Stars with 14 goals and 26 points. He should be a great playoff asset for the Bruins, especially on their struggling power play—even though they’ve proven they can still win a Cup with a less than stellar PP. As for the Stars, they can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye. They aren’t completely out of the hunt, but I can’t see them sneaking into the 8th spot without Jagr, especially with the way Edmonton and Columbus have been playing.
Seems like a Bruins steal to me.
