Last season, Jordan Love took over as the full-time starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers after the departure of future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, and Love performed extremely well, leading the team to a playoff victory and putting up some impressive numbers. And Tom Brady thinks he knows why Love was so dominant in his debut season.
During a recent interview with Colin Cowherd, Tom Brady suggested that the secret to Jordan Love’s success last season was the fact that he sat behind Aaron Rodgers for a number of years before he got his chance to start.
“He had Aaron Rodgers to watch. That’s the best type of training, in my opinion. Watch someone else do it at a very high level and then try to emulate them with your own personality,” Brady said according to The Spun.
“Maybe a little bit of a misnomer with the draft is that these players can come in and all of the sudden become this great professional player before they’ve really had the training and the development.”
It’s often seen as a downside for players to have to wait years before stepping into a starting role, but it’s clear that it worked out for Love in this case.
