Someone thought it would be a good idea to get Floyd Mayweather’s opinion on the video of Ray Rice punching his soon-to-be-wife. Even more bizarrely, Mayweather thought it would be a good idea to give his insights on the incident.

Mayweather’s answer was, well, despicable but perhaps unsurprising considering Mayweather’s own history of battering women.

“Oh yeah I seen the video…I think there’s a lot worse things that go on in other people’s households, also. It’s just not caught on video. That’s safe to say. I wish Ray Rice nothing but the best.”

Yes, won’t someone think of poor Ray Rice.

Mayweather, who, again, has a long and sordid history of hitting women himself, also said that the NFL should have stuck with their original two-game suspension because sticking to your word is the honorable thing to do (somehow, a serial assaulter of women spoke about honor and the universe didn’t tear itself in two from the sheer irony of it all). So, Ray Rice has one guy who is solidly in his corner, but it might be one of the last people in the world he wants defending him publicly.
