Giants 15- Eagles 7
This game was filled with things that should not happen in the NFL. The Giants won by kicking five field goals. The Eagles only scored seven points with their high-powered offense. The Giants improved to 2-6 but some how are now only two games back in the division. One thing did happen in this game that was typical for the NFL, Michael Vick left the game with a hamstring injury.
Bengals 49- Jets 9
Andy Dalton threw five touchdowns and not one of them went to A.J. Green. Marvin Jones caught four touchdowns matching the total for his entire career. Dalton admitted after Jones’ huge game that sometimes he just forgets to pass to his other receivers.
Raiders 21- Steelers 18
Terrell Pryor opened the game with a 93 yard touchdown run and the Raiders never looked back. Darren McFadden added two rushing touchdowns but Pyror’s 93 yard run stole the show as an NFL record long run for a quarterback, which is the first record achieved by a Raiders QB since JaMarcus Russell set the record for combined weight gain and disappointment.
Cardinals 27- Falcons 13
Sixth round pick out of Clemson, Andre Ellington, retroactively made general managers look silly with a break out game rushing for 154 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. This match up highlights the philosophy that it is more important to find the next big time player in the NFL than it is to convince Tony Gonzalez not to retire and sign Steven Jackson who rushed for six yards on 11 carries.
Panthers 31- Buccaneers 13
Cam Newton has looked great in the last three games most recently beating the Buccaneers handily on Thursday night. Unfortunately those three wins have come against the Buccaneers, Rams, and Vikings which is like bowling a turkey in bumper bowling (a turkey is three strikes in a row).
Packers 44- Vikings 31
The Packers absolutely dominated this game on Sunday night. This was the last meeting for these two teams in the Metrodome before the Vikings begin building a new stadium on the same site. Although the Vikings are 1-6, they are building some lasting memories in the last season at the Metrodome, including the two worst prime time NFL games of all time last Monday night and last Sunday night.
