Chargers 41- Chiefs 38
Philip Rivers threw for 392 yards and three touchdowns against a Chiefs defense that until the last two weeks had been one of the toughest to move the ball against in the NFL. The Chiefs lost their second straight game facing another match up with Denver next week. After starting the season with nine straight wins the Chiefs have had a target on their back which is harder to survive in the NFL than it was for Jack Bauer through eight seasons of 24.
Panthers 20- Dolphins 16
Cam Newton kept preaching that his teams were better than their record and now after their seventh straight win, Newton has proven himself to be right. Despite the first Mike Wallace sighting of the season, the Panthers completed a fourth quarter comeback and kept pace with the Saints in the NFC South. With two games remaining against the Saints we will see if Newton’s confidence in his team is warranted or if it is another case of thinking your girlfriend is the most beautiful woman in the world.
Rams 42- Bears 21
The Rams took care of the Bears in the Long Bowl. This Game featured a match up of Kyle and Chris Long, the sons of Howie Long which would not have been a big storyline had it not been for the man crush Terry Bradshaw and Jimmy Johnson have on Howie Long.
Cardinals 40- Colts 11
The Cardinals have quietly made their way to an impressive record of 7-4, but there was nothing quiet about this week. Bruce Arians faced off against Chuck Pagano who Arians replaced as the interim head coach last season while Pagano fought cancer. Larry Fitzgerald eclipsed 11,00o yard receiving in his career. Most importantly, the Cardinals hung 40 points on the Colts. So the Cardinals move to 7-4 quietly the way Metallica quietly puts on a show.
Jaguars 13- Texans 6
The Jaguars improve to 2-9 while the Texans fall to 2-9, wow never mind, I’m just gonna stop right there. Its was 13-6 just take a guess at what this game was like.
Titans 23- Raiders 17
A late touchdown lifted Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Titans over Matt McGloin and the Raiders. This win keeps the Titans in the playoff hunt and proves once again that if you want to remain barely eligible for the playoff late into the season, Ryan Fitzpatrick is your guy.
Cowboys 24- Giants 21
No matter how bad the Giants have been, when these two teams get together its always a tough game. This challenge allowed Tony Romo to get his mojo going in the fourth quarter when he put together a game winning drive, showing the Romo Cowboys fans have been waiting to see this season. Unfortunately Cowboys fans also saw flashes of the Dez Bryant they have been waiting to see again, that is the Dez who you can trust about as much as a coke head on the set of Scarface.
