The Carolina Panthers dug a bit deep to acquire a new wide receiver. Carolina signed All-UFL wide receiver Daewood Davis on Thursday, a pretty notable move in the football circles.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news that the Panthers signed the now-former Memphis Showboats star.
“Panthers are expected to sign Memphis Showboats WR Daewood Davis,” Rapoport posted on X. “Davis aldo spent time with the Dolphins. He was recently named to the All-UFL team.”

When the UFL was created, part of the idea was probably to create a developmental system for the NFL to put itself, at minimum, adjacent to. In the past few years, we’ve seen this happen already, especially so in the case of P.J. Walker. Fittingly, Walker also played for the Panthers as well as the Cleveland Browns. Davis is just one name of many that are starting to follow through this system.
Davis, 25, played for the Oregon Ducks in college before he transferred to Western Kentucky. The Broward County, Florida, native will hope to make an impact with the budding Panthers, and maybe give young quarterback Bryce Young a needed lift.
