The NFL coaching landscape underwent a major shakeup on Monday, with the Dallas Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy officially ending their business relationship.
While the Cowboys failed to make the postseason, the Cowboys’ season was completely derailed by injuries, and many fail that the former Super Bowl champion head coach can still do the job at a high level, making him a coveted target for multiple organizations.
One of those organizations is the Chicago Bears, and according to one prominent league insider, there is mutual interest.
“Members of (Cowboys) coach Mike McCarthy’s staff have now been informed that the two sides are separating and his contract will expire. McCarthy is free to speak with other teams — (Saints) and (Bears) are at the top of the list,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.
