Heading into the offseason, it seemed like Justin Fields was either set to return as the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears or he would be traded to become the starting quarterback elsewhere. But in a pretty brutal turn of events, it’s beginning to look like Fields might not get a starting spot at all next season.
The Chicago Bears are widely expected to select Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, meaning the team is expected to part ways with Fields this offseason. However, the Bears are quickly running out of potential trade partners for Fields.
Heading into the offseason, the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders all seemed like potential trade destinations for Fields if the Bears decided to part ways with him. But with the Falcons signing Kirk Cousins, the Steelers signing Russell Wilson, and the Raiders signing Gardner Minshew, there aren’t a lot of options left for Fields.
Obviously, this is some pretty brutal news for Fields, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
I get we all love Justin Fields. But the Raiders — who have the guy that called plays for Fields the last two years — chose to give Minshew $15M guaranteed over making a trade. What more do we need to know? https://t.co/QpsbSy5NSh

Is Justin Fields truly available? Is the asking price too high?
None of this makes sense to me

Justin Fields trade market is almost non-existent now….Russell to Steelers & Kirk to Atlanta.
Raiders or bust for Fields. Could the Bears keep Fields & draft Caleb Williams? Bears aren’t just going to give away Fields for free…

It seems the league has also watched Justin Fields play football.

The Raiders choosing to pay Gardner Minshew over trading a mid-round pick for Justin Fields is a pretty clear indication of how Luke Getsy views Fields.
Based on the lack of any trade interest, plus Getsy getting multiple OC looks, the rest of the NFL agrees with him.

We’ll have to see where Fields ultimately lands after all of this and what sort of opportunity he gets.
