The Chicago Bears decided to part ways with former starting quarterback Justin Fields this offseason, instead electing to draft former USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. But even though things didn’t work out between Fields and the Bears, he is still grateful for the way the team handled his departure.
During a recent press conference with his new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Justin Fields sent a pretty clear message to the Bears as he expressed his appreciation for the way the team and general manager Ryan Poles handled the decision to part ways with him and trade him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he wanted to go.
“Shoutout to [Ryan] Poles, we communicated to him through my agent, and I told him where I wanted to be and this was a place I wanted to be, so he honored that and I appreciate him for that and glad he was able to put me in a spot where I wanted to be at,” Fields said according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.
So even if things did not work out between Fields and the Bears, it doesn’t sound like there are any hard feelings.
