DeSean Jackson’s departure from Philly dragged, and dragged and dragged on before he finally actually departed and landed in Washington with a new regime under former Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden.
Despite never catching more than 62 balls until his final season with the Eagles, Jackson remained an upper-tier fantasy option, especially shocking considering he recorded 5-plus TD seasons only twice before Chip Kelly arrived. His speed remains an undeniable game-changer and routinely excels in the tricky bubble screen game, but still disappears in the red zone (10 targets in 2010 or less than half of the average top 10 fantasy WR).
Fellow speedster Pierre Garcon has flourished alongside RGIII and appears set for another 1,300-plus yard, 5 TD season and the number of touches for Alfred Morris are not dropping, therefore is there enough room for DeSean to be a reliable No. 2 fantasy WR?
Do not select him before the 4th round and be careful if guys like Victor Cruz, Wes Welker and Roddy White are still on the board. He’s a stud No. 3 WR or flex player but tread lightly if you haven’t filled a WR spot when he rolls around in the 4th.
