Lamar Jackson has a new home.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Atlanta Falcons have signed Jackson to their practice squad. The veteran cornerback — who happens to share a name with two-time NFL MVP and Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson — most recently spent the 2023 NFL season on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad before being waived this past offseason.
A 2019 first-team All-Big Ten selection at Nebraska, Jackson first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the New York Jets ahead of the 2020 season. Over the course of two seasons with the Jets, the Elk Grove, California, native appeared in 14 games (six starts), tallying 28 tackles, one of which came for a loss, and two pass defenses.

Following the 2021 NFL season, Jackson signed with the Chicago Bears and went on to appear in five games with the team before being waived. He proceeded to finish the 2022 NFL season by appearing in three games with the Denver Broncos before spending a portion of the offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs and ultimately signing with the Panthers ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Jackson’s most recent NFL experience came last season when he played 11 special teams snaps in Carolina’s Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans. In joining Atlanta’s practice squad, he’ll have the ability to be promoted to the team’s active roster for as many as three games unless he is later signed to the team’s full-time 53-man roster.
