Jaguars DE and future notable draft bust (IMO) Dante Fowler was officially charged with three misdemeanors stemming from an incident in a Pinellas County, Florida parking lot in July, according to TMZ and court records.
Fowler was arrested after police say the Jaguars DE was involved in an altercation with a man who criticized his driving. Fowler then allegedly hit the man, knocking off his glasses which Fowler preceded to step on, and then threw the man’s grocery bag full of liquor into a nearby lake. Fowler has been charged with first-degree misdemeanor battery, criminal mischief, and petty theft. If convicted on all charges, Fowler could end up facing one year in prison. The victim did not claim injury and was not injured, but a witness corroborated the case to police.

Fowler also did not practice with the Jaguars today in advance of their third preseason game against Carolina on Thursday but was present at the team’s facility.
Fowler apologized for the incident after it came to light, saying “I’m a better person than that.” Fowler also has 10 traffic tickets dating back to December of 2015 and has also reportedly worried Jaguars officials with his behavior in the past.
I have been told many times, Dante Fowler is the one player that makes it hard to sleep at night for Jags folks. Getting evidence why today.

Fowler’s NFL career hasn’t been anywhere near what the Jaguars expected. After missing his entire rookie season due to an ACL tear in mini-camp, he underwhelmed in 2016 and has also worried the team off the field as well. It has been a not good summer for recent top five draft picks, with the drama surrounding Blake Bortles and the opening of the team’s QB competition also not shining a good light on the team in addition to this.
There is no word on future court dates for the case.
