Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick still wants to return to the NFL, but that doesn’t mean he watches games.
Colin Kaepernick has not played a game since the 2016 season, but he has made it clear that he will continue to pursue a return to the league.
“When I look at my career, it was 15 years of work and dedication before I ever stepped foot on an NFL field. To have that passion and chase it for that long, you don’t just give that up. You don’t just walk away,” Kaepernick said earlier this month.
“There will never be an instance where I’m not ready, and there will never be an instance where, ‘Oh, it’s because he doesn’t want to anymore.’”
But just because he is still hoping to make a return doesn’t mean that he actually watches games.
During a recent interview, he made it very clear that he refuses to watch NFL games, saying he is “not gonna support in that way.”
“Oh, I still check everybody’s stats. It also informs who my agent reaches out to, but I still check the stats. I see what’s going on,” Kaepernick said according to Page Six.
“I don’t ever turn a game on though, because I’m not gonna support in that way, but I need to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening with quarterbacks out there.”
Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since the 2016 season when he went unsigned following his protests during the national anthem.
We’ll have to see whether or not Kaepernick ever gets another chance to play in the league.
