Typically, NFL teams and general managers make business decisions that act purely in their own self-interest. But it does not sound like the Chicago Bears did that regarding their recent deal to send Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Even though the team decided to move on from Justin Fields as their starting quarterback this offseason, it sounds like they worked with him to trade him where he wanted to go instead of simply taking the best deal for him.
According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, there were actually “at least four additional teams” that were interested in trading for Fields, but Fields wanted to be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. So the Bears made it happen for him.

Even if things didn’t work out for Fields with the Bears, it sounds like the team still wanted to make sure he was as happy as possible with the situation.
