On Sunday night, longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick participated in the celebrity roast of Tom Brady broadcast live on Netflix. But Tom Brady wasn’t the only one of his former players that he blasted during the roast. Legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski was also a target.
Over the years, Bill Belichick has become well known for his motto “Do your job,” which he has often told his players, particularly during practice, with the idea being that if every individual simply does what they’re supposed to do, the team as a whole will be successful. But Belichick had a pretty humorous twist on that motto this week to call out Rob Gronkowski.
“A lot of people kind of connected me with a thing called ‘do your job,’ and telling people to do their job,” Belichick said during the roast. “Gronk, I’ve been watching you on Fox NFL Sunday. I’m begging you please, stop doing your job.”
Obviously, Gronk has stepped into a media role in retirement, much like Belichick is planning to do as he joins the Manning Cast this upcoming season. But it sure sounds like Belichick thinks he will do a better job in his broadcast career than Gronk currently does.
