The Chicago Bears are hoping to get things turned around after an embarrassing season that saw the dismissal of head coach Matt Eberflus. Chicago is now looking for the right voice to lead the locker room and in particular young quarterback Caleb Williams.
Now, following the departure of Mike McCarthy from his role as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, the Bears have their eyes on the former Super Bowl champion head coach, but it’s a little complicated, according to one prominent league insider.
“Rules prohibit any interviews to be scheduled yet, but former Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy is expected to interview this week, and as soon as Wednesday, for the Bears head coaching job, sources tell (Todd Archer) and me,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Saints also are expected to have interest in McCarthy.

Fans reacted to the news of the Bears getting an interview with McCarthy scheduled “off the books” on social media.
“I’m a bit surprised the jets haven’t thrown their hat in. They’re seemingly interviewing everyone,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Good for Coach McCarthy. Hope he gets another HC opportunity. Appreciate all his efforts in Dallas,” another fan added.
“Bears management hoping McCarthy will be the first head coach in history to win the Super Bowl with 2 different teams? Nope. The goal now is to just not be a national embarrassment. McCarthy could pull that off in the regular season. Playoffs, not so much,” one fan added.
“How is he prohibited but Ben Johnson has been interviewed & he’s still in the playoffs?” one fan wanted to know.
It’ll be interesting to see where McCarthy lands.
