After a disappointing season with the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers has a decision to make about his future in the league.
At 41 years old, Aaron Rodgers is well past the age that most quarterbacks choose to retire and throughout much of the season, his age certainly showed as he lacked the arm power and athleticism he once had.
However, Rodgers played quite well in the team’s season-ending win over the Miami Dolphins, throwing for four touchdowns in the 32-20 in, including the 500th of his storied career.
It seemed proof that Rodgers was still capable of performing at a high level, and he still had confidence that he could – as long as the desire was there.
“I know I can still play,” Rodgers said according to Pro Football Talk.
“I know I can still do the things I need to do to be successful. It just comes down to the desire on their side and, ultimately, my desire to play. Going to take some time mentally and physically to rest and relax.”
Of course, it’s not clear where Rodgers would play even if he did decide to come back for another season in the league.
The Jets are widely expected to part ways with Rodgers after this season, especially considering the team is bringing in a new head coach after firing Robert Saleh in the middle of the season. That would make Rodgers a free agent.
It’s not clear what Rodgers will choose to do, but it sounds like he intends to consider all his options during the offseason.
