When the New York Jets signed future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers ahead of last season, they were hopeful that he would be enough to push the team over the top and allow them to contend for a Super Bowl. But now, it’s clear that he simply does not have anything left to offer the team.
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had an absolutely abysmal performance against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon as the quarterback completed 12 of 18 passes for just 112 yards while throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns.
It was a horrible performance for the future Hall of Fame quarterback that ultimately got him benched in favor of backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who finished the game in his place.
As NFL commentator Kevin Wildes pointed out, based on one of the plays in the game, it’s pretty clear that Rodgers is finished with the Jets and perhaps in the NFL, as well.
“This is Rodgers 2024 in 15 seconds,” Wildes said, sharing a clip of Rodgers missing a wide open throw to tight end Kenny Yeboah.

Not mobile enough to run.
Not accurate enough to throw.
Not humble enough to take responsibility so he yells at his teammate. pic.twitter.com/M7QPPZmjqx— Wildes (@kevinwildes) December 29, 2024
“Not mobile enough to run. Not accurate enough to throw. Not humble enough to take responsibility so he yells at his teammate,” Wildes continued.
This is obviously horrible news for Rodgers and clearly indicates that he simply has nothing left to offer the Jets, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“Told him to go deep then threw it at his feet and blamed him. Time to retire and go away,” one fan wrote on X.
“Aaron Rodgers gonna be forced to retire, he’s a backup at best if even that,” another fan wrote.
“He’s been done since 2020,” someone else said.
“That video perfectly captured everything wrong with Rodgers this year — trying to play like his younger self while blaming everyone else when it doesn’t work,” another fan added.
“Time to retire Rodgers – two years ago,” someone else quipped.
“e’s a cancer for the Jets,” another person wrote.
We’ll have to see whether or not the Jets decide to move on from Rodgers this offseason.
