New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh is more of a defensive-minded head coach. He was previously the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and has never worked on the offensive side of the ball throughout his NFL career. But it sounds like he has decided to get more involved on the offensive side of the ball for the team this offseason.
During a recent interview, New York Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that Robert Saleh is spending a lot more time on the defensive side of the ball this offseason than he has previously.
“As a defensive coach, he’s been in that room a lot, but he’s been kind of sitting over to the left of me a good amount of the offseason so far,” Rodgers said according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. “So we appreciate his influence. He’s brought some really good ideas to the table.”
And it doesn’t sound like Saleh is merely symbolically overseeing the offense. It sounds like he is actively contributing and bringing some changes to the table.
“He’s added a lot of interesting stuff that you’ll see throughout the OTAs and training camp, which I think would be pretty cool for us,” Rodgers said.
We’ll have to see how this affects the team’s offense this season.
