The Ohio city of Urbana will be really getting into the Buckeye spirit for the College Football Playoff National Championship.

The city won’t just be rooting for Urban Meyer to lead the Buckeyes to the championship. It will change its name from Urbana to Urban in honor of Meyer for the day of the big game between Ohio State and Oregon.

The mayor of Urbana issued a colorful proclamation complete with about three too many exclamation points to announce the one-day change.

According to the Dayton Daily News, a brief ceremony will be held on Thursday where a Buckeyes fan and a retired city council member will block the “A” in the city’s name for some photos.

The idea was originally hatched by former Urbana resident Ryan West, who posted the idea to Facebook where it gained traction and eventually attracted the attention of city officials.

“I couldn’t say no so I thought about if for a while and jumped on board,” [Urbana mayor Bill] Bean said.

When asked for his take on the city’s name-change, Urban Meyer could hardly believe it himself, according to Eleven Warriors:

“You’re kidding. Wow. That’s very nice.” He seemed equally grateful, equally weirded out.

“Equally grateful, equally weirded out.” Sounds like the appropriate reaction to this tidbit.
