USC was kind enough to post some rare footage (a few years ago) of Jackie Robinson playing football for UCLA, in honor of Jackie Robinson Day. We were surprised to find out that there was footage of Jackie playing college sports, let alone playing football. The footage shows Jackie playing for the Bruins in 1939 during the USC-UCLA ‘Crosstown Showdown.’ Jackie is sporting the #28.
The score at the end of the game was an astounding 0-0 and was played in front of 103,303 fans at the Coliseum which is still the largest crowd to watch a game between these two teams. Make sure to take some time today to think about how much of an iimpact Jackie Robinson not only had on baseball, but the world.
