Byron Marshall nearly committed a major, major blunder in the third quarter of Monday’s College Football Championship. As Oregon attempted to come back from an 11-point deficit in the second half, Marshall was on the receiving end of a huge 70-yard touchdown reception, but he almost gave it all away in what would have been an absolutely devastating brain fart for the Ducks.
The wide receiver dropped the ball juuuuuuust as he was crossing the goal line, prompting a review from officials. The play was ruled a TD on the field and – after the replay review – the refs stood with the call. We can only imagine Marshall’s sigh of relief was the biggest he’s ever taken.
