The Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs have developed a bit of a rivalry in recent years with some highly-contested matchups in the postseason between star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow. But it seems that the rivalry has gotten so fierce that one Bengals star won’t even say the name of Mahomes.
This week, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was interviewed for the NFL Network’s unveiling of its annual Top 100 players list. And during that interview, Chase flatly refused to say the name of Patrick Mahomes.
“I’m not saying him. I give credit when it’s due, but I’m not saying his name,” Chase said according to Pro Football Talk. “I’m not saying his name, brother. I’m sorry.”
Chase admitted that Mahomes is extremely talented, but he still refused to say his name and still listed Joe Burrow as the No. 1 player in the league on his personal list.
“I’m not saying that guy’s name. He’s good, he’s amazing, he’s good — I’m not going to lie. I’m salty, though. I’m a little salty. Two years in a row. I’m putting Burrow first,” Chase said.
Clearly, Chase is quite motivated by the rivalry between the two teams.
