No one outside of Salt Lake City considers Utah to be a legitimate threat in both the Pac-12 and the College Football Playoff race, but they should. Kyle Whittingham and the Utes welcome the Trojans this weekend following a 9-day layoff after the emotionally-charged 2-OT win in Corvallis.
The resume remains incomplete thus far, with their lone accolade coming via the win at UCLA, and they also lost at home to a very average Washington State team. Luckily (or unluckily?), the Utes have a feast of opportunities over the next month with five ranked conference foes on the slate, three of which come at home.
Don’t bet the farm on Utah bouncing into the playoff but give me wins over USC and Arizona State and look out, especially against vulnerable Oregon and Stanford teams.
