I don’t even know where to begin with this. As you can see, the point of the above infographic is to show players who have averaged 30 points per game, 5 assists, 50% field goal shooting and 40% 3-point shooting. Unfortunately, none of the players pictured and/or named (we’ll get to that in a second), averaged 30 points per game at any point in their careers except for LeBron James. Even then, LeBron didn’t average 30 points in 2012-13 (he averaged 26.8). While 1984-88 was Larry Bird’s prime, the most he ever averaged was 29.9 in 1988 (close!).
The other players — P.J. Tucker, Jeff Hornacek, Goran Dragic, Rajon Rondo — have never sniffed 30 points per game. The most Hornacek ever averaged was 20.1 (1991-92), while the most Dragic has averaged was 20.3 (last season).
So, how did we get here? Well, here’s the list of players who have averaged 20 points, 5 assists, 50% field goal shooting and 40% 3-point shooting. Ah, that’s more like it. Although, it it still doesn’t explain why Rondo’s name is under Bird’s photo, and P.J. Tucker (career high 9.4 points per game) is listed under Hornacek.
Here’s the scary part: if Bird averaged .1 more point per game in ’88, he’d qualify for the incorrect stat line in the graphic. That’s insane. Also, can Chris Webber get some love, please?
