When other athletes try their hand at different sports, the results can be cringe-worthy. Very few have been able to effectively pull it off.

So when Steph Curry announced that he was going to be playing on the Web.com Tour with players trying to make it on the PGA Tour, many were skeptical.

Complex interviewed Curry’s caddy for the week Warriors’ Director of Player Programs Jonnie West. Jonnie is also the son of basketball legend Jerry West for those wondering.

West was impressed with Curry’s ability and how good he was with such little practice.

He really didn’t have anytime to prepare for that tournament. He went to China and did his tour and in Korea so he didn’t touch a club for almost a week to 10 days. Got back from China and went right to Harrison Barnes’ wedding which was the Saturday before the tournament. Monday we played a pro-am together and then Tuesday had his practice round and then right in the craziness of the tournament.

When asked if he is the best basketball turned golfer he has ever seen, West was quick with his answer.

I never played with my dad when he was at one point a +4 handicap. I heard a lot of people who saw him play when he was done with basketball and really committed to golf. I heard a lot of people say he could have easily played on tour. But that I have seen? Yes. He’s the best.

West got wrangled into the caddying gig because of his membership at the course Curry played on the tour. While never explicitly said, the agreement came naturally. They even noted that the conversation about the tournament took place during the NBA Finals.

If that isn’t cool under pressure, I don’t know what is.
