The Royals entered 2015 as one of the most well-liked teams in baseball following their magical World Series run last year and while some of that love remains, many aren’t thrilled with their fans’ bombardment of the All-Star ballots. The Royals’ dominance in the 2015 All-Star voting, with eight players slated to start the Midsummer Classic in Cincinnati next month, most of which have no business being in the game, has generated serious controversy across baseball.
There is no denying that allowing fan voting for a game that determines World Series home-field advantage is preposterous in itself, therefore while the rule is already debatable, this year’s results might force MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to alter the rules to avoid one team ruling the selections. We can only assume, and pray, that most Royals fans realize the likes of Omar Infante, Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon should not be included in the All-Star festivities, but many are still promoting and justifying heavy voting, including this guy who created a parody video. Again, we can only hope and pray that he is not serious:
