Most people figured that the Red Sox would deal Jon Lester before Thursday’s MLB Trade Deadline, but very few – if anyone – figured Boston would get a guy like Yoenis Cespedes in return. But that’s exactly what happened early Thursday morning when Ben Cherington and Billy Beane agreed to this blockbuster deal:

The Athletics get (another) dominant arm on the mound and the Red Sox add some much-needed firepower in their lineup while improving a very lackluster outfield in Boston. Oh, and in case you were wondering…the A’s playoff rotation will now likely look like this:
Jon Lester, Sonny Gray, Scott Kazmir, and Jeff Samardzija. Yeah, that’s pretty solid.
