Game 3 of the 2014 NLCS came down to the wire, but the Giants were able to escape in the tenth inning, thanks to a sacrifice bunt from Gregor Blanco that resulted in a wild throw from Cardinals pitcher Randy Choate. The error allowed Brandon Crawford to score, and the Giants won Game 3 by a score of 5-4. Now, it’s on to Game 4 (which will be shown on FOX Sports 1) as the Cardinals will try to tie things up in the best-of-seven series, while the Giants look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Don’t miss it. This series is shaping up to be a great one.

Overview:
Although Ryan Vogelsong may have not had the best season statistically, there’s little room for argument about Vogelsong’s postseason success. The Giants have yet to lose in the postseason when Vogelsong takes the mound. He won all four of the games he pitched during the Giants 2012 World Series run, including two games against the Cardinals in the 2012 NLCS where he threw seven innings and one-run ball in each game. However, in the three regular season games that he’s pitched against the Cardinals since 2012, Vogelsong has gone 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA.
As for Miller, this will only be his second postseason start (he did make a few relief appearances for the Cardinals in 2012 and 2013). The right-hander pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up two runs against the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLDS. The bigger issue for the Cardinals will be the status of Yadier Molina, as it is unknown when he’ll be able to come back (if at all). The Cardinals started A.J. Pierzynski at catcher for Game 3. Expect another close game but it’s hard to bet against Vogelsong in the postseason.
