6. Yoshi Has A Name And It’s T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas [Kotaku]
Back in the early 1990’s, before Nintendo could release anything with the name “Mario” on it and watch it sell effortlessly, the video game company was working on helping merchandisers “sell” Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom to parents of whiny children. This included making a manual which helped explain the back story of a plumber tasked with jumping on the heads of turtles in order to save a princess from a castle. In addition to such tidbits as Bowser has no friends and hates “happy fungi” and Princess Peach having the magical ability to keep her clothes “starched and clean” comes the shocking truth about Yoshi. Its name isn’t Yoshi. Rather, please refer to Mario’s green dinosaur friend as “T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas.”
