Last month, a gunman killed Cassidy’s Stay’s parents and siblings in a Houston-based shooting. At the funeral, Stay referenced Albus Dumbledore when she stated, “Happiness can be found even in darkest of times, if one remembers to turn on the light.” Word must have reached J.K. Rowling, as the Harry Potter creator sent Cassidy Stay a letter written in the voice of Dumbledore, a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts and a signed copy of The Prisoner of Azkaban, of which Cassidy’s Dumbledore reference is found.
